Precious Jewelry For Everyday Wear

*************************************
People who loves diamonds in Las Vegas and around the world might sometimes wonder just who it is who creates some of the world’s most phenomenal jewelry designs. Who are these people who decide to take metal and gemstones and take the time to put them together in an amazing new configuration, often to a customer’s specifications?
A skill and a trade like many others, custom jewelry design is also an art, without a doubt. Like any other artistic endeavor, before a custom jewelry designer can strike out and blow the collective jewelry world’s mind with their own designs, they need to learn some basics.
What Does It Take to Become a Jewelry Designer?
Before a jewelry designer has the chance to work for a jewelry store or custom jewelry design company, they need to work on getting a good foundation of knowledge and experience. Following are some steps that an aspiring jewelry designer can take toward taking over the jewelry world with their vision and designs.
Identify Core Skills and Interests Needed to Become a Jewelry Designer. Some of the basic things a hopeful designer should assess about themselves before pursuing this field should include: manual dexterity, an eye for fashion, a sense of different gemstone configurations within a setting, good vision, steady hands, and good visualization skills, which come in handy for clients who can’t quite describe their vision as clearly as they might like.
Get the Proper Foundation of Education. While there are few official jewelry design programs that students can take for custom jewelry design, they can find workarounds that will give them the education they need. Prospective students should do a search for jewelry-specific institutes or jewelry programs. There are really no bachelor’s programs available, but students can pursue a degree in Fine Arts as a perfectly acceptable course of study for a jewelry designer. Part of the education should include working with computers to gain CAD software experience and skills.
Work as An Apprentice, Intern or Anything to Gain Experience. With education set, prospective jewelry designers need real world experience to ply their trade. At some point, many companies will hire apprentices, or some students might find a low-paying clerk job with a jewelry company that might eventually lead to a permanent paying job. As they gain experience, they can build their client base and begin to let their creativity unfurl.
