Fair Trade – The Little Market

Fair Trade items are something I have been having a little more trouble with than cruelty free items.  It seems like you have to really do a lot of research to find good items that are fair trade, and when you do find them they’re usually on the expensive side.  But, thanks to one of my style icons, Lauren Conrad, we have The Little Market (http://www.thelittlemarket.com/).
The Little Market is an online store dedicated to sustainability and fair trade practices.  Lauren and her friend Hannah established the company to empower women and artisans from all over the world.  (For more on their specific values and practices visit the about page: http://www.thelittlemarket.com/about/)
The online shop has a ton of different categories to choose from, including jewelry, candles, home entertainment, one of a kind items, and so much more!  Everything they sell is handmade and the artisans are given fair wages for all of their hard work, something that is often lacking when buying items from other countries.
While the items are definitely a little pricier than you would normally expect to pay, they are not unreasonable, and it is a small price to pay to make sure that the artisans are being treated fairly.  Buying fair trade items is a great way to make the world a kinder place and give people a chance to feel appreciated for their work.  Next time you need something for your home, a gift, or just a treat for yourself, be sure to check out The Little Market! –xoxo
