Palawan | Philippines

After three days only, we all already had a great deal of emotion. And yet, here we were at 3:00am, arriving (a little bit earlier than planed) at Manila. At that moment, while every taxi men were turning around us like vultures. I remember us, all thinking about El Nido. The ultimate aim of our journey. However, we were still a few hours away from it…

We spent two days in Puerto Princesa. Some will say we lost some precious time, but without these two little extra days, we never would have been able to experience Palawan as we did (and we also definitely needed the additional sleep).
While we were drinking to our so-far-adventure, we met some great locals. We spent all the night with them, and if it wasn’t for their advice, we would probably never have done what I would then consider as the greatest memories of our trip.
We followed what they recommended, we rented scooters and went to El Nido, but with an escale at Port Barton.

Port Barton is a true piece of jewelry. With the photographs, you must think” oh great, this time they were in holidays to the beach”, and then maybe even hate us for it on your way to your job. But this escale was so much more than break on a beach. In Port Barton, I observed for the first time that life is simple. Family, the city, school, the futur, our everyday lifes are so complexe. I assure you, it’s unbelievable how a place like this can give the envy to abandon everything. The atmosphere and the people are so peaceful.
Silence | Tranquility | Calmness.

When I was selecting my photographs, I realised that there were a lot of beaches, and not much of what I remembered Palawan for. When we rented the scooters, we rode up to the north of the island, crossing all the countryside. This was amazing. We followed a different path, and it was epic. Every little challenge we faced will remain as a huge memory. On several occasions, the Filipinos have proved us to be a helpful, generous and attentive people (even though they often pretend to understand you, they nod and everything, but they don’t!)
Anyway, armed with my Iphone, I did film a lot during this roadtrip. I hadn’t planned this, but now that it’s done it seems much more representative of Palawan.
