I thought Lagos was hot but I just discovered another city hotter than Lagos. If you need to sweat or if has been long since you sweated…you should visit this place. You will be totally fagged out from the heat of the sun!
Mombassa is a very hot town! Having heard about the city( it is the 2nd largest city in Kenya) and their beach hotels and because we had the opportunity to be out of town, we decided to visit Mombasa. It takes about an hour to get to Mombassa by air from Nairobi. Then it took another 35 minutes to get to this beautiful beach hotel which is 20km from Moi International Airport.
severin Lodge is located on Bamburi Beach( Malindi Road- North Coast). It is a lovely view of the Beach and outdoor pool. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. It has 2 swimming pools ( I don’t swim anyway), a wellness and fitness centre, two massage rooms, tennis court, hairdressing salon, small store for jewelries and souvenirs, diving school among others. As time goes on, I might be able to recount all the facilities available here. The hotel is right on the beach, it has a swing bar opposite the beach where you can enjoy the ambience of the beach while being served cocktails, fresh fruit smoothies and regular drinks. The lodge is cozy; a beautiful holiday house!
We were welcomed to the lobby with a glass of cold juice before we were ushered to our room. We then went to the restaurant to eat almost immediately. They had vaThe rieties of delicacies for different people. Then they had this restaurant called Imani Dhow which is situated on an old stranded sailing Dhow which offers seafood. They was a special performance by the “afroboys” who treated us to their acrobat performance. It was simply amazing.
The staff were overly friendly; Infact one of them has promised to make ” Nyama Choma” for us tomorrow”… Lol… Finally I get to taste Nyama Choma.
I hear there are a lot of beach hotels close to this one; there is Sarova whitesand beach Resort, Neptune Beach Resort, Serena Beach Resort & Spa among others.
Will I love to go back to Mombasa? Sure! Can I live here….hmmmmm…. It depends.
The Swahili word for today is PWANI which means Beach.
Much Love!
