I’m absolutely astounded at all the amazing ways we can support good causes just through local purchase.
Thanks to a new trend I just learned about called Cottage Industry, I can buy from local stores and support my local economy while also empowering women in third-world villages to support themselves via their art.
Unlike in a mass-production environment, everything is handmade, native cultural traditions are upheld and respected, and the artisans receive a fair wage.
Above is a piece of feel-good fashion I purchased from a local shop called Necessories (http://www.necessories-bff.com) that supports Cottage Industry around the globe. This bracelet hails from Turkey and the symbol on the medallion is the emblem of the village in which it was created.
