Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a business conference in the city of New Orleans. Lucky me! I brought along my favorite travel partner, my sister, and we proceeded to explore the Big Easy! Of course, as foodies, we tried all of our methods of research (Yelp, TripAdvisor, and the locals) to see where the best places were to satisfy our curious palates.
The first night, rainy and cold, we ran over to the Palace Café. The name itself made it seem informal, however inside, its beautiful French architecture and busy atmosphere proved it to be a pretty glamorous place! First up, we tried their signature Crab Cheesecake. This savory cheese cake was made with crabmeat, Creole cream cheese, onions, and pecan crust, finished with Meuniere sauce and topped with crab claws. This savory cheesecake was divine! My sister and I definitely loved this dish! We then tried other dishes off the menu, then finished with dessert, all with a banana flambé show.

The next day, we tried the recommended Ruby Slipper Café for brunch. After double bellinis and some signature eats, we were ready to explore!

After visiting the daiquiri shop, we went on a tour that showed us some of the history of New Orleans. Our tour guide, Kentrell, was very knowledgeable and candid about the history of New Orleans. We learned about the difference in architecture between the French and American sides of New Orleans, as well as visited beautiful parks and landmarks. Along the way, we made a pitstop to get beignets.

Throughout the weekend, we visited different spots to eat, trying all of the local favorites, then visiting Bourbon Street at night! At the end, we both were a little sad to leave, but can’t wait to explore New Orleans again!
Cocktails, anyone?

Our favorite eat by far was the crabmeat cheesecake. The recipe is posted below, courtesy of Food Network:
