More Fluffy Awards: 2015 SAG Awards Edition

Sorry for the lateness of this post, but after the resonating snores of the Golden Globes fashion, I was pleasantly surprised with a veritable plethora of awesome looks at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards, and it’s taken me awhile to pare it down to a manageable level.  As I said in the previous post, the Globes is like the warm-up carpet– rarely does much stand out, it’s usually quite bland and beige;  the game starts stepping up at the SAGs.  (I realize I skipped the Critics’ Choice Awards, but they suffer much the same problem as the Globes, while also coming across a bit too casual, like the Peoples’ Choice Awards, making for a mixed bag that is less fun to critique because no-one really seems to care.)  Anyway, since there was SO much going on this time around on the carpet, let’s get to it.
MOST IMPROVED (TIE)
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY AND JULIANNA MARGULIES

Keira’s unflattering butterfly-print Golden Globes getup was one of the saddest maternity looks I’d seen in ages, so I was pleased to see her embrace the bump with something a little more fashion-forward, a royal purple Erdem lace gown with a plunging illusion neckline and ribbon detailing at the shoulders.  Julianna has been an ugly-print aficionado since, like, ever, which makes her come across as dowdy and prematurely aged.  So this electric blue draped Giambattista Valli creation is a breath of fresh air.
CUTEST (TIE)
MAISIE WILLIAMS AND SOPHIE TURNER
Game of Thrones’ Stark sisters hit the carpet in some adorable dresses!  After a lot of Googling, I was able to discover that Maisie’s laser-cut lace-effect candy-apple red number is by Self-Portrait, a newer London design house that features this dress in white on the front page of their website, for those who are inclined to steal the look for themselves.  Sophie is wearing an asymmetrical black Osman dress with waist cutouts, accessorized with the cutest Louboutins ever!
BIGGEST RISK (THAT PAID OFF)
VICKY JEUDY
Lots of online hate for this Charbel Zoe Couture dress, but I happen to think it’s amazeballs and Vicky’s rocking it.  The neckline alone is one of the most creative things I’ve seen on the carpet in many moons, and the mix of patterns and cutouts actually works.
BIGGEST RISK (THAT MISSED THE MARK)
RASHIDA JONES
I want to like Rashida’s Ungaro dress.  I almost do.  She’s a previous Fluffy Award winner, for Pete’s sake!  But somehow it puts me in mind of what Cruella de Vil’s fashion project might have looked like had her dalmatian-napping gone unfoiled, and while it’s flattering and pretty, I keep thinking of dead puppies.  Not a good thing.
THE FAIRY PRINCESS AWARD
JULIE BOWEN

This Georges Hobeika gown is a frothy, ethereal delight.  Gradient pinks and greens of the palest variety, accented with ribbons and flower petals, make this look magical.
THE ARM CANDY AWARD
SOFIA VERGARA
