About Lara: Lara, whose name means “mother of the dead,” was the guardian of ancestral spirits in whose care is the home, the family, and by extension, the community. According to tradition, crossroads are sacred spots for Lara, being the meeting of two roads, symbolic of an area where the temporal world and spirit world “cross” over one another.
To Do Today: In Rome, Parentalia was part of a weeklong observance dedicated to one’s ancestors. So, pull out the scrapbooks, discuss your family tree, and fondly remember those who have been a part of your family history. If possible, light a white candle in one of your windows to greet the ancestors and Lara. Or, leave an empty chair at your dinner table tonight with some of the deceased’s favorite foods in the empty place at the table to welcome them and Lara into your home.
This is also a time to visit grave sites, leaving roses, violets, wine, and other gifts for the deceased. These actions propitiate the spirits and ensure the family of ongoing harmony through the year.
Finally, Romans settled any arguments with family members or friends today, so follow their example. If you can, arrange to meet the person with whom you’ve argued at a crossroads, so that your two minds can “meet in the middle.” Scatter rose or violet petals where you meet to inspire Fornax’s warmth.

“Mr. Perkins’ Chin”
Weary shoppers were preparing for the next blizzard. Great banks of snow all but obliterated the parking lot at the super market. Mr. Perkins cautiously guided his cart down the aisle in search of salad dressing.
The many choices were daunting. Just as he decided to stick with oil and vinegar another cart bumped his.
”Excuse me,” a feminine voice startled him.
Her dark red lipstick was quite theatrical. “Why you’re Henry Perkins,” She smiled. “Betty O’Brien. I’d recognize you anywhere.”
Looking at her seemed to made him nervous. He felt she was dressed more for the opera or a cocktail party than for the supermarket. Her brows arched over eyelids heavy with silver. She blinked her long, dark lashes.
”You knew my husband Ralph. You both belonged to The Actuarial Society. I’d see you at the picnics and at Ralph’s funeral.”
”Ralph? Oh yes, Ralph.” He remembered the large burly accountant from Amalgamated Concrete who yawned and seemed like he never got sufficient sleep. “We were all deeply grieved by his passing.”
”Oh thank you. You wouldn’t have recognized me from his funeral, all in black with a mourners veil…”
”Well you certainly are recognizable now.” How anyone could wear shoes like that in this weather, he thought to himself. And such flimsy clothing. Didn’t she know it was the dead of winter?
Another infectious smile. “It’s so coincidental running into you here. Imagine the two of us amidst all this salad dressing,” she said. She looped her arm into his and cuddled up against him. “”May I invite you to see my etchings?”
”Etchings? You’re an artist?” That certainly explained the way she was dressed.
Her eyes crinkled, “Not really, actually I’m a sculptor.” Then her smile widened. “But you might know me by artistic non de plum, Catta El Greco.” Her eyes fixed on his face. “You have a strong resemblance to St Jerome. The one hanging in the Frick.”
”I’ve never been equated to a saint before,” he stammered.
Her fingers brushed the side of his chin and grasped it firmly.
Mr. Perkins sniffed. He resisted sneezing from the cloying patchouli like scent. He shuddered inwardly, wishing she’d release his chin.
”Only an El Greco could capture a chin like yours. I must cast it in bronze.” Still holding on, she turned his head this way and that.
”That’s really not necessary, but thank you for the compliment.”
Not wanting to appear rude but wishing she’d leave his chin alone, he backed away slightly. “Are you related to the real El Greco?”
She smiled. “Distantly. All Spaniards are related in some way. Come to my studio. Let me make preliminary sketches.” Her hand flew into her purse and extracted a colorful business card. “Tomorrow before it snows. I must have your chin.”
Not knowing how else to escape her clutches he reluctantly agreed.
The next morning the skies were gray. Her street had hardly been plowed and he feared getting stuck in her driveway.
Her house looked like an igloo. The unshoveled path off the messy driveway was challenging. Mr. Perkins trudged through the drifts and finally made it to her front door.
”My hero,” she cried and ushered him in. ”How wonderful to see you. I must admit that I am extremely taken by your chin.”
”My chin, why?”
”It’s the chin of a patrician, a Roman senator—the chin of a Julius Caesar.”
”Oh,” he said. All he remembered about Julius Caesar was that he was enamored of Cleopatra and had been assassinated.
”Thank you for coming. Let me show you my gallery.”
The house was bland, modern, and tastefully furnished. Every surface contained sculptures of chins large and small all shapes and sizes.
He was startled and not quite sure what to say. ”Your sculpture is quite remarkable. But why do you always do chins?”
”My specialty; for over thirty five years I’ve only sculpted chins. Some are in museums and many in private collections.”
”But why in particular?”
“Sooner or later, everyone takes it on the chin. It’s an inevitable moment in life. I want to capture the drama of their lives.”
”But enough about me, now let’s get to work.” She led him to a studio workroom where pots of clay and related sculpting supplies were scattered on and around a long table.
”If you don’t mind Henry would you please disrobe.”
He didn’t like the sound of that. “Why?”
”I want to capture your chin in all its splendor that its greatness will be made evident.” She handed him a toga and pointed. “If you’d prefer go behind the screen and slip into this. “
For the next several hours he sat in a chair. He felt uncomfortably bare. Dare he wrinkle his nose or even twitch, she’d cry out, “You must sit still.” Finally she was satisfied.
”May I see?” He asked. She seemed reluctant. Quickly she waved the clay chin at him, then whisked it away before he could get a good look. She handed him his clothes and pointed at the screen.
Driving home he pondered why was it that these flamboyant types keep flinging themselves at him. What was it about him? It made no sense. Finally in desperation he decided that at the very least he’d best avoid the salad dressing aisle at the super market.

An excellent assistant for increasing your ability to express and accept your true feelings. Copper will balance your personal energy reserve and confidence. Copper is often known as the “love metal” as it helps us open up to love energies and physically helps with sexual imbalances. The healing properties of this stone are particularly enhanced when used in conjunction with other stones such as hematite and tourmaline.
Folk Remedies: Copper is the third most abundant trace mineral found in the human body. Copper is transported through our body by protein in our bloodstream. The human brain and liver contain the largest amounts of copper, with lesser amounts of copper in other organs. We need approximately 3 mg copper per day in our diet. Copper is an essential component of the natural pigment, melanin that gives color to our skin, hair, and eyes. Copper keeps our hair from turning grey and helps keep our hair thick. Required in our body to make enzymes that stop our arteries from hardening, copper is required to support the enzyme lysyl oxidase. Lysyl Oxidase is used in the synthesis and maintenance of bone and connective tissue. Copper is alos essential to the activation of lysyl oxidase and supports both elastin and collagen productions. Copper can be used anywhere on or around the body. It is very effective when used at the Solar Plexus Chakra for issue pertaining to the stomach and intestines. Next to skin, this mineral detoxes and soothes arthritis, rheumatism, other inflammation problems. Copper works for exhaustion recovery and improving circulation due to the fact that it influences the flow of blood. Whenever there is better blood flow, there is better circulation and less pain. This mineral is therefore, important for metabolism, as it stabilizes the metabolism and heightens the immune responds. Copper has also been found to be beneficial for a disorder called “streetlight phenomenon”, when passing under a streetlight the negative energy charge in the body can turn off or shut down the light. Those with this energy charge are called “sliders” and the energy can be referred to as the “slider phenomena”. It is common among those with a strong aura. Often people think it is their aura that causes this but it is the negative energy you carry, that reflects this. Your auric light is an expression of your mental, physical and emotional expression. Since energy is so sensitive, it is expressed outwardly sometimes before any symptoms are observed. Copper (along with hematite or magnetic hematite) help this situation. Copper is also beneficial for the lungs, as it improves the exchange of oxygen and helps in filtering out pollutants. Soft tissue and mucous membranes retain more moisture and become less susceptible to irritation when there is enough copper in the body.
Feng Shui: Copper is used in the Center/Health position to encourage good health and create balance and calm. Use copper for dispersing negative energy in any room. Use it in any room to also attract change into your space.
Crystal Cleansing: Negative energy “charge” is absorbed by this mineral. It tends to become dull when used for treating negative energy. 1) Make a solution out of warm water, a few drops of lemon or lime juice, and a teaspoon of salt. Mix it thoroughly. 2) Dip the tarnished copper jewelry into this solution. Leave it there for a couple of minutes. 3) Remove the jewelry and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if some tarnish still shows. 4) Use ketchup and a soft toothbrush to remove tarnish on a piece that contains soft or delicate gemstones. The ketchup is not safe on the stones, but using ketchup and a toothbrush will give you more control over the cleaning process. Only clean the copper and avoid touching the gemstones with the ketchup.

The similarity in electron structure makes copper, silver, and gold similar in many ways: All three have high thermal and electrical conductivities, and all three are malleable. cultivated and wild grown plants found in a variety of climatic and

How many pounds of plant material do you think it takes to make one
pound of essential oil?
Here is an example it takes 50 pounds of Eucalyptus oil, 150 pounds of
Lavender oil, 500 pounds of Rosemary oil, 1,000 pounds of Jasmine oil
and over 2,000 pounds of Rose oil. In fact the price of essential oil is
directly related to the amount of plant material needed for
distillation.
Extraction Methods:
To extract essential oils in the most effective manner, while preserving
their therapeutic benefits they are either distilled or expressed.
Distillation:
Pure essential oils are most commonly extracted from plants through the
process of steam distillation. In this process, steam is introduced into
a distillation chamber which contains the plant material. The steam
breaks down the plant tissue, causing it to release its essential oil in a
vaporized form. The vaporized essences, along with the steam and other
substances, pass into a pipe through cooling tanks. The vapors return to
liquid form and are separated from the water and captured as pure
essential plant oil.
Expression:
Expression, also know as cold pressing, is done exclusively with citrus
oils. Into this method, the oil containing out layer of the fruit is
pressed and filtered to yield pure essential oil.

While you`re well aware of this in some situations, other changes could come as a surprise. The more of these you explore, the more you`ll benefit. Once you undertake them, you`ll realise they aren`t just wise, they`re the solution to problems that, thus far, you`ve been unable to resolve.

In Hebrew scripture, one of the most powerful figures, Wisdom ~called Hokkmah in the original language and Sophia in the Greek ~ is feminine. She is the most important aspect of human life, the quality without which we would live like animals. She is more important than riches or fame, than sensual pleasure or power.
Knowledge leads to Wisdom, but is not Wisdom herself. And Wisdom leads, the Book of Proverbs tells us, to justice and truth. But as this ancient text makes clear, Wisdom is hard to find in the marketplaces of this world ~ the marketplace of ideas as well as products. She must raise her voice to be heard over the din of commerce and competing interests. Yet, if we pay attention, she is there. She is still there, calling for us to listen and follow her to justice and to truth….
