****Hello all, today I am transferring a few of my favourite posts from my old blog on to here, so I hope you enjoy!
Today I am sharing with you a few of my most treasured pieces of clothing. Some old and some new, but all equally as special.
I absolutely love collecting vintage pieces, and choosing clothes that are made of gorgeous fabrics. I have an obsession with antiques and that shall we say, ‘old time feel’. Although I don’t always dress this way, there is a part of me that has a deep love for soft, feminine and subtle clothing. I love white. It feels so fresh and sweet. Soft cottons, linens and lace are the loveliest of things to host on your skin.
Keep reading to learn where I got these pieces, and what each one means to me.
Happy reading!
This first piece is a gorgeous 100% Indian Cotton, White summer dress… or wedding dress I am still deciding. I happened upon this dress in the change rooms, whilst trying on a size 6… was never going to fit but was so pretty red dress.. anyway. I saw it and immediately fell in love. From the soft flowing skirt, to the fitted and embroidered top I knew I had to have her. And at only $18, why not! I am still yet to wear this dress, but I think I will save it for a maternity shoot, in the future. With the sun pouring through the skirt it would make the most beautiful glow.
This next dress is one that I picked up from my local St Vincent de paul, op shop. I bought this just before my 21st birthday. It was just hanging there, all alone, on the ‘designer’ rack, and before I even realized I was in the change rooms trying it on. It is a tight fitting 100% cotton Elly M dress with an all over broderie anglaise fabric, and I managed to snap it up for $30! It still had the original price tag on it, which was well over $100. Something tells me I was meant to find this dress, because it fits absolutely perfectly, compliments my body shape, and made me feel like a million dollars for my 21st birthday! I will love this dress forever.. or as long as it fits me!
This next piece is probably my most treasured item of clothing… ever! I picked up this sweet little cardigan from a Vintage Boutique in Ballarat about 6 years ago. Although it was well worn, and is slowly deteriorating, I just could not leave it there. It is the loveliest little woolen cardigan, complete with silk lining and tiny little cream beads. I have only worn this a couple of times, and always save it for the most special occasions (dinner parties with friends and special outings). Although this cardigan spends most of its time carefully folded away in my cupboard, I love it dearly. ITS SO SOFT!
This next dress, is one that I only picked up very recently. I managed to find it at a local market, and got it very cheap! It is a 100% cotton summer dress, with smocking on the bust (so cute!). I am still not sure if this dress is meant to be baby pink in colour, or has just had an accidental wash with pink clothing, but I love it all the same. I will need to make a little under garment or dress to wear with this as it is quite see through. This will be the most perfect little summer dress, or even winter dress, with black tights and a cardigan!
This dress is another gorgeous cotton broderie anglaise summer dress. I got this dress at Big W believe it or not, and already absolutely love it! Its tight fitting around the bust and waist, and has a beautiful flowing but fitting skirt. This dress falls just around the knee, and has a tie around the waist to give you that fitted and slimming appearance. I wore this on the weekend, and the combination of the sun, this gorgeous fabric and the smile on my face was enough to make me completely happy! Cannot wait to wear this dress again… come back sun!
Last but not least is this 100% white linen shirt. I found this at a local op shop when searching for a Halloween costume. I did purchase this shirt with other intentions, but after trying it on and wearing it a few times, I could no part with it! It is much longer than any other shirt I own, and could almost pass for a dress, or a beach cover up! It is so soft and lightweight. I love pairing it with light blue denim jeans and gold jewelry. It is also great for layering!
Doesn’t the combination of linens, cottons and wool just make your heart smile! I absolutely adore soft colours, and softer fabrics. These items will be kept in my wardrobe for years to come, and hopefully be a part of some of my most special memories.
I hope you enjoyed this post! I’m going to put on one of these dresses and go bake something! Talk to you soon!
