So I have found a new rabbit hole–one without felt bunnies. It started with Larimar. I stumbled upon Larimar jewelry when I was (likely) procrastinating a few months back. It’s an extremely rare gemstone found only in the Dominican Republic, and I fell in love with it immediately.
Larimar is a form of blue pectolite also known as Atlantis Stone, dolphin stone and Stefilia’s Stone. It has a fascinating mythology, but it’s also gorgeous. It reminds me of looking up at the sky from underwater, something I loved to do as a kid. And if you sit and look at it closely, it seems to change colors a bit as the light hits it, a result of the fact that it ranges from translucent to opaque.
After looking at them online for weeks I finally ordered some. I’ve been making necklaces with them since, and plan to order more when I can.
You can check out some of the necklaces below or over in the Etsy shop!
And the Larimar was only the beginning, of course. Up next, natural freshwater pearls!
