One of the most difficult words to pronounce in English for native French (and maybe other languages) speakers? Jewelry. Absolutely hilarious.
I was trying to sound it out slowly and Tomis was trying his best to follow along when finally his roommate yells from the kitchen, “Don’t try to say it slowly, you’ll think too hard. Just think of it as one big group of sounds- it’s less confusing that way!”
For me, one of the hardest words to pronounce in French is squirrel. Écureuil. So there we sat, repeating the words ‘jewelry’ and ‘squirrel’ back and forth to each other on a loop for an oddly enjoyable 5-10 minutes.
What fun is learning another language if you’re determined to be serious the whole time?
