I’m back from Chester, and I had a pretty lovely time. I went with my boyfriend who loves it up there too. The week got off to a rocky start though, because somebody decided to eat a vaguely cold pasty from a local bakery and ended up being poorly all of Tuesday. The poor thing.
Wednesday however, we went on our pancake double-date at a little place called Hanky Panky Pancakes. It was a lovely little place, and for £5.50 you get very full. They have a choice of savoury, sweet, and American style pancakes, and you can have pretty much whatever the hell you want on them. I went with a 3 stack of American style pancakes, with mint chocolate chip ice cream, mini Reeses pieces, and chocolate sauce.
Of course I posted it on Instagram, look at it!
Their hot chocolates look pretty damn good too.
So anyway, we looked around the town, I got a lovely amethyst necklace from a cute quirky shop; Lee Louise. I got a few shots on Saturday, I’m just getting round to editing them, keep a look out on my sites: Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr.
Regarding photography, I’ve been working on a couple of other projects, and I’m planning a couple more, which I’m pretty excited about.
Anyway, back to my trip, Thursday we went to a movie night with some friends and we watched the majority of Guardians of the Galaxy and about half of The Wolf of Wall Street. Both were good, really funny, but I don’t know if it was because I’d missed the first 20 minutes of GotG, but there seemed to be something lacking in the storyline? I felt like it was trying so hard to be funny (and it succeeded) that it wasn’t really developing the plot. Yes, parts were sad, yes there were a lot of explosions, yes it was pretty damn good. Just perhaps not….the best Marvel movie I’ve seen? I’ll definitely watch all of it again so I can give it a fair trial, before everyone starts yelling at me.
What I saw of The Wolf of Wall Street was interesting and pretty damn funny. Leo is a top notch actor. I definitely want to see the rest of that one.
Friday! Going to one of my favourite places ever. I never used to like the idea of going to night clubs, I always figured they were too loud, full of catty people, played music I wouldn’t like, etc, etc. However, this is before I’d heard about the metal nights. Every time I’m in Chester I go to at least one, either Metal Pig (which has been taken over by Grind) at Rosies, and Grind itself at Deja Vu. Yes, its loud. Yes, you’re always gonna have people trying to spoil the fun. No, they don’t all play music I don’t like. These nights are so good. If you’re into rock/metal/alternative music, and are willing to give clubbing a try and be surrounded by hella drunk people, then definitely head to one of these clubs.
This Friday however, was pretty interesting. A guy literally dressed head to toe in PVC took a liking to….everyone, and insisted on grinding on god knows who, including my boyfriend, much to his dismay. Everyone. Everything. I think he actually bit a girl.
And I also got a marriage proposal. From a guy who came to a metal club in a regular shirt and jumper. Repeating the words “I love you”, “I want to marry you”, and “I know you, I know where you’re from” over and over. Ahh, drunk people.
Another guy, who I actually know, had paired an obnoxiously patterned jumper with heavy eyeliner kept trying to ballroom dance with me, bless him.
In all, I had a pretty damn good night, my voice was fuckin’ wrecked by the end of the night and I insisted on singing Smelly Cat loudly, badly, and drunkenly in the hail on the way back to Niki’s house.
Last day was also pretty nice. Got a new outfit, courtesy of Stefan. Walked Niki to her job interview (which went really well, fingers crossed!!), and went for some food. A little pricey, but delicious. Then it was time to get our stuff together and get on the train home. But of course, it was a replacement bus service from Chester to Wrexham, then a train from Wrexham to Shrewsbury. Then another train from Shrewsbury to Wellington.
So. Yeah.
Some lessons to take away:-

Some lessons to take away:-
- make sure your pasties are burn-your-tongue-off-set-fire-to-your-stomach hot to avoid melting the sink with your stomach acids later on
- never EVER go clubbing by yourself, god knows who the fuck is there trying to marry the first girl he sees,
- always arrive to the train station early if there’s a replacement bus service, because you can bet your life, if its supposed to leave at 18:10, it’ll actually leave at 18:04.
