The little black dress is a classic staple in every girl’s wardrobe. It’s one of the most essential pieces you can own because of how wearable and versatile it is.
Part of the reason why it’s so essential is that you can really wear it anywhere in any way. It can be dressed up or down for any occasion from a workday, to a date to a more formal party.
It can be really fun to style a simple piece like an LBD in lots off different ways by adding a statement necklace, gold jewelry, a kimono or strappy sandals. Your money really goes far every time you buy an LBD, or any basic piece for that matter!
Also, black is one of the easiest colours to wear because it always looks effortlessly chic and stylish. When in doubt, just KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) and wear black!
A girl can never have enough basics in their wardrobe for those days when every outfit just feels wrong or forced. A simple black dress is just a no-brainer!
The best part about buying basics is that it really doesn’t matter whether it’s from Target or Bergdorf’s because, let’s face it, they all pretty much look the same. Check out the gallery below for a few affordable LBDs for under $100!
- I love the short length and high neck of this LBD – it’s fun and flirty but not too revealing. Get it at Nasty Gal.
- This dress is a little bit more formal and classic – it reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear! Perfect for dinner with the fam or a formal party. Get it at CiChic
- The mesh and polka dot detailing on this dress make it a fun alternative to your average LBD. Get it at Lulu’s.
- The neckline on this LBD is really interesting! I also love how this dress falls – it’s so relaxed and casual. Get it at Urban Outfitters.
- Of course I had to have at least one dress with lace accents in this gallery! I love the Gothic Victorian look of this frock. Get it at Forever 21.
- This dress from Free People is so flattering and I love the way they’ve styled it with unexpected accessories here.
- Turtlenecks are always a surefire way to look chic and put together. This one from Asos would be great with knee-high boots and a pony tail.
- Brandy Melville makes such basic yet stylish pieces. The back of this dress is so simple yet gorgeous.
- I just love t-shirt dresses – they’re a great way to dress casual yet chic at the same time! This one can be dressed down with a big sweater and boots or up with high-heeled booties, a leather jacket and a necklace. Get it at American Apparel
- The peplum flare of this dress makes it such a fun variation of the regular LBD. It’s so feminine and pretty! Get it at Aritzia.
