Trending Above: A Self Made Jewelry Guru
This week I wanted to focus on a style entrepreneur and inspired DIY enthusiast: Alyssa Bove. A senior Architecture student with a minor in Studio Art, Alyssa started her own company in the summer of 2014 based around her sparkly, glam, self-made jewelry pieces and has been gaining a following both on and off campus since. Despite being incredibly talented at creating her gorgeous one of a kind pieces, Bove accompanies her jewelry with her own unique style, which is just as glamorous. Bove pairs this silver gem necklace with a comfy flannel, fur vest, and cozy head wrap. Now this might just be my personal bias, because I have been obsessed with this fringe necklace since I saw a senior in my sorority wear it to our semi-formal, but I love everything about the above look. Bove shows that you don’t have to sacrifice good style because of the colder weather, and that you can still make warm and cozy look fabulous and put together. Much of Bove’s collection are statement pieces; large gem bracelets, rings and necklaces that stand out and have every eye in the room on the girl rockin’ them. As she says herself on her website, her pieces combine “glitz and glam with an edge,” and I think the same applies to her personal style as well. Plus, on this campus especially, the same chunky J.Crew necklaces are worn by everyone so it’s refreshing to see someone bring something new and more original to the table. Bove’s gems can be colorful, or classic. Make a vibrant statement with nothing more than a white tee and blue jeans. Bove’s next look shows her pieces aren’t only for when you dress up, but can even make a simple tee shirt and jeans look like a polished outfit. This look features a stack of various blue Emme bracelets from her collection, paired with her Gia necklace in ocean blue, Taylie necklace in crystal, and Ellie necklace in navy blue.
Distressed, yet feminine. Glam and glitz with an edge.
Her Emme bracelets are great for stacking (trendy, trendy)
A little black dress can always use a little something extra
Overall, Bove brings fresh accessories to Oxford with style. Bove’s necklaces are priced between $50-$120, bracelets for $25-$36, and earrings for as little as $15. For more of Bove’s style check out her instagram: @trendingabove, and be sure to check out her website as well!
