GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — The Grand Rapids Public Museum is preparing to open an exhibition of its collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
The “Egypt: Be Curious” exhibition opens March 21 and includes artifacts donated by Grand Rapids-area residents that were collected from Egypt.
The collection includes a mummy and the exhibition highlights the importance of artistic objects, such as jewelry, funerary masks and statuettes. Museum visitors can learn about artifacts used in worship, funeral processes, celebrations and mummification.
The exhibit is going on display ahead of the scheduled May opening of the traveling exhibition “The Discovery of King Tut.”
