I believe in makeup

I know that the title of this post may surprise some of my friends since I may have told them numerous times that I do not wear makeup….but just stick with me.
♡
I actually do not have a single problem with makeup. But it is when you start to think that you have to wear makeup to be beautiful or cool or popular is when I start not liking makeup. You are absolutely gorgeous with no makeup. What to know why? Because you were made by God, (without makeup) and He never makes mistakes.
1 Peter 3:3 says, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.” I think that this verse also applies to makeup. Our beauty should not come from what we put on, but from what comes from us. To be beautiful, we need to be kind, compassionate, loving, and attain the fruit’s of the Spirit. We may be considered beautiful by the world when we wear colorful makeup, but that is not what God looks for when He wants beauty.
This is also apart of my pursuit of authenticity this year. A person’s first impression of you comes from the first time they see you, they don’t even have to hear you speak to form an opinion of you. Is their first impression one of you being gaudy with excessive amounts of makeup and a hairstyle that took you several hours? Or can they tell that you are a Daughter of the King by the way you treat others around you?
You are the Lord’s beloved, His most precious child. Please do not think that you cannot be beautiful without makeup. It is fine to wear a little makeup to highlight your gorgeous features, but God loves you just the way you are and your true friends will as well. If anyone ever tells you that you need to wear makeup to be beautiful…..don’t pay attention. You are beautiful in God’s eyes.

Please do not think that I have this all figured out either. There are many days when I fell un-beautiful as well! This is a journey that we are all walking through together.
 with love,
 Colleen
